Yale-NUS Online Module Registration (ModReg) Exercise for AY2020/2021 Semester 2 (Exchange/Visiting Students)

Important Information for Exchange/Visiting (Non-Graduating) Students

Prior to registering for your modules, do note the following:

Workload

  • You are required to register for a full workload ranging from 18 to 22 Modular Credits (MC).
  • Should you wish to overload (>22 MC) or underload (<18 MC), please contact Ms. Lindsay Allen (Lindsay.allen@yale-nus.edu.sg) for approval. The email approval is to be forwarded to Yale-NUS Registry (ngmodreq@yale-nus.edu.sg) for processing.

Registering for Modules with pre-requisites

Yale-NUS modules with pre-requisites

If you do not meet the pre-requisite(s) to register for a Yale-NUS module with pre-requisites, please contact the instructors and send them a copy of your transcript and relevant syllabi to request for a pre-requisite waiver. Once approval is obtained, forward the approval email to ngmodreq@yale-nus.edu.sg for processing. The deadlines to submit the approvals will be communicated to you via email.

NUS modules with pre-requisites

You do not need to contact NUS instructors for approval. The NUS faculty administrator will follow up with you if additional information is required.

Auditing modules

Yale-NUS modules

The College has no formal provision for auditing a module. However, students are permitted to informally attend the classes of a module by applying directly with the faculty member. If your request has been approved by the faculty member, you must attend all classes, participate actively in discussions and complete any prescribed readings. Please note that you are not entitled to ask for any work to be assessed, nor permitted to sit for the final exam. The module will not appear on your transcript – i.e. no grade and modular credits are awarded.

NUS modules

Students are permitted to audit NUS modules. Once you have successfully registered for the modules, you may request for the module to be set to ‘Audit’ basis. The list of restrictions can be found here: http://www.nus.edu.sg/ModReg/module_information_non_graduate.html. Students who are enrolled in NUS modules on Audit basis will only attend lectures and will not be permitted to sit for examinations. Participation in other practical components (including tutorials, laboratory work, fieldwork) will be at the discretion of the respective faculty/department. Once processed, note that no letter grade will be shown for the module in your transcript. An ‘AUD’ grade will be shown instead, indicating that you have audited the module.

Should you wish to take an NUS module on Audit basis, please seek approval from Ms. Lindsay Allen (Lindsay.allen@yale-nus.edu.sg) to have the module taken on audit basis. If approved, forward the email approval to Yale-NUS Registry (ngmodreq@yale-nus.edu.sg) together with a completed APU form.

Learning Accommodation

Learning accommodations can be either temporary or permanent in nature, so students may have to be re-assessed during their studies at Yale-NUS College. For more information on learning accommodation, please click here

Satisfactory(S) / Unsatisfactory(U) Option

The option of having courses graded on a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (Pass/Fail) basis is not available to exchange/visiting students.

Additional note for registration of NUS modules
